McLean leaves Standard Chartered Bank

Simon McLean has left Standard Chartered Bank’s aviation team.

Announcing his departure on LinkedIn, McLean said the bank’s aviation finance business is “genuinely world class and I am proud to have been part of it”.

The bank told Airfinance Journal it does not comment on “individual personnel issues”. The bank separately said that a "small number of roles" are being made redundant in line with its commitment to transforming the bank and ensuring its future competitiveness.

This work has been underway for more than four years and is not the result of any impact from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Previous to his role at Standard Chartered, McLean was chief executive officer of Muscat-based lessor Oman Brunei Aviation Leasing Company.

He also worked for Aercap as head of their Middle East operations and was chief operating officer of Waha Leasing.
