Delta Air Lines has mandated two operating lessors for a $750 million sale-and-leaseback deal to shore up funds in an industry still reeling from a global collapse in air travel demand six months into the coronavirus crisis, people familiar with the situation indicate.
In another effort to improve its cash position, the carrier has mandated nine Airbus aircraft to BBAM and Castlelake.
BBAM has agreed to sale-and-leaseback transactions involving two A321 aircraft. Sources say those deals closed at the end of August.
Castlelake is stepping up for the bulk of the financing with sale-and-leasebacks involving two A350s, two A330neos and three A321s.
