AirAsia India | Operating lease | 07-21 | 5xA320neo

US lessor GECAS will provide Air Asia India’s first Airbus A320neo aircraft.

Two A320neo units are currently undergoing flight testing at Airbus’s Hamburg facilities and will be ready for delivery in the near future.

GECAS says it does comment on its confidential customer agreements.

Air Asia India has not taken delivery of brand-new aircraft since 2014.

The Chennai-based airline added more than 20 A320 aircraft on operating lease agreements over the past five years, including one last year from GECAS.

Aircastle and Fly Leasing have the largest exposure to Air Asia India with five A320 aircraft each, Fleet Tracker data shows.

The carrier’s current fleet counts 30 A320 aircraft.

Update: In November it was revealed that the number of a/c increased to 5.

Update: Third aircraft was delivered in Apr 2021.
