AFJ announces Regional Awards 2021 winners

Airfinance Journal Awards 2021 winners were unveiled in a ceremony on 5 May 2022 in Dublin.

There were 30 categories considered in the Airfinance Journal 2021 Awards, of which five were regional.

Shortlist for the Africa-Middle East Deal of the Year included:
• DAE Capital $1bn unsecured bond
• Saudia SAR11.2bn Shariah compliant term financing facility
• Flydubai AFIC supported JOL for one Max 8 aircraft

The winner is:
DAE Capital $1bn unsecured bond

 

Shortlist for the Asia-Pacific Deal of the Year included:
• Crianza Aviation $425m AFIC-supported and Balthazar-guaranteed loans for three aircraft
• AVIC Leasing $180m Balthazar-guaranteed loan for four A321neo aircraft
• Philippine Airlines’ pre-negotiated Chapter 11 Cross-border restructuring

The winner is:
Philippine Airlines’ pre-negotiated Chapter 11 Cross-border restructuring

Shortlist for the Europe Deal of the Year included:
• Aercap $2bn term loan B
• Easyjet $1.87bn commercial loan
• Turkish Airlines US Ex-Im Bank French Lease for nine 737 Max and three GEnx engines

The winner is:

Shortlist for the Latin America Deal of the Year included:
• Avianca restructuring
• Aeromexico operating lease for 12 Max 8 aircraft
• Avianca $482m sale and leaseback for 27 aircraft

Shortlist for the North America Deal of the Year included:
• United Airlines $4bn bond issuance and $5bn term loan B
• American Airlines AAdvantage loyalty programme financing
• Castlelake $1bn warehouse facility
