Amedeo signs deal for 200 electric aircraft

Asset manager and lessor Amedeo has announced a strategic partnership agreement and letter of intent (LOI) with Aura Aero for the purchase of 200 Electric Regional Aircraft (ERA).

With its current prototype aircraft, Integral, Toulouse-based Aura Aero said it is achieving "design and production maturity at a fraction of the cost and will carry that to the commercially sized 19-seater ERA”.

“Amedeo are delighted to have signed an LOI for 200 Electric Regional Aircraft ‘ERA,’ that draws the commercial aviation industry closer to achieving its goal of net-zero by 2050.

"We have seen various concepts showcased in the market and AURA AERO has an edge with the skillset, talent and design that we stand behind. Their prototype INTEGRAL is the first stepping stone to a larger electrical regional aircraft,” said Amedeo's chief commercial officer, Gabriella Lapidus.

Amedeo manages widebody aircraft, including units at Philippine Airlines, Turkish Airlines and new Italian carrier ITA, Airfinance Journal's Fleet Tracker shows. Its offshoot, Amedeo Air Four Plus, leases owned A350, A380 and 777-300ER aircraft to Emirates and Thai Airways.

Earlier this week, in another ESG initiative, Japan Airlines (JAL) partnered with Avolon to give it the right to purchase or lease up to 50 Vertical VA-X4 eVTOL aircraft from the lessor.
