ACG secures new Max contract

California-based operating lessor Aviation Capital Group (ACG) has delivered a new Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft on long-term lease to Tui Travel.

The Max aircraft, powered by CFM International’s LEAP-1B engines, is part of a multi-aircraft transaction between ACG and the airline.

AFJ understands that this week’s delivery was a sale and leaseback transaction and that the aircraft will be based in Brussels and operate for Tuifly Belgium.

“We are pleased to announce the delivery of this Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft to TUI Travel, and we look forward to continuing to grow our long-term relationship with the TUI Travel team,” said Tom Baker, chief executive officer and president of ACG.

Fleet Tracker shows that ACG already leases three 2011-12-vintage 737-800 to Tui affiliated carriers.

ACG’s other 737 Max customers include Sunwing Airlines, S7 Airlines, Hainan Airlines and Aerolineas Argentinas.

Through 30 September ACG had outstanding direct orders with Boeing for 21 additional CFM-powered Max aircraft, OEM data shows; Tui had 47 Max aircraft remaining in its orderbook at the end of September.
