Santiago-based LAN Airlines is planning to double its expenditure on new aircraft in 2012. The company said in its annual results, published January 31, that it plans capital expenditure of $1.76 billion for a total of 23 aircraft in 2012. The carrier spent $841 million on new aircraft in 2011.
