American Airlines' (AA) parent company, AMR Holdings, plans to keep 20 additional Boeing aircraft and 87 spare engines, according to documents filed yesterday with the US Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York.
AMR also filed documents to reject 18 aircraft and six Pratt & Whitney (P&W) JT8D-219 engines.
Equipment to keep
The 20 Boeing aircraft AMR will keep are from nine separate filings which include various banks and lessors. The aircraft include 16 737-800s with an average age of 6.6 years; three 777-200ERs with an average life of 12 years; and one 2001-vintage 757-200.
