Airbus expects over 50% drop in orders

The manufacturer had a record year in 2011 with 1419 orders but says there will be less in 2012

Airbus is expecting less commercial aircraft orders in 2012 compared with 2011. The company announced today at a press conference in Hamburg that it expect orders for about 600 to 650 commercial jets.

Last year, the European manufacturer received 1,419firm orders, including 1,226 orders for the re-engined variant of the A320 � the A320neo. This figure discounts the order placed by American Airlines since it filed for Chapter 11.
