Industry players question demand for narrowbodies as manufacturers ramp up production rates.

Customers ordered hundreds of narrowbody jets at the 2011 Paris Air Show, followed by record orders from major US carriers in the following months.
Airbus has booked 1,070 gross orders for A320-family (including A320neo) aircraft this year, compared with 416 last year. This includes 200 orders from AirAsia, 180 from Indigo and 130 from American Airlines.
Boeing has booked 384 gross orders for the 737NG (including the 737Max) so far this year, compared with a total of 508 in 2010.
Both manufacturers say that demand is outpacing the supply. At a time when customers want more aircraft than can be delivered in a given timeframe, manufacturers logically ramp up production. But economic growth in Europe, America and China has been slower than expected, and as profit expectations for airlines look weaker than a year ago, manufacturers will face opposition from those who question if production rates are already too...
