Boeing: Lessors will need capital markets

Competition among new lessors will drive more speculative aircraft orders, and lessors will need capital markets to fund them, says Boeing Capital’s managing director.

“Capital markets is the holy grail of aircraft finance,” said Kostya Zolotusky, managing director, Boeing Capital, at a Boeing Capital roundtable held in London yesterday.
This year, however, has not seen US lessor aircraft securitizations because they are still too complicated and expensive compared to commercial debt.
