ATR has two in-production turboprops. The ATR 42-500 and the ATR 72-500 seat up to 50 passengers and 74 passengers, respectively. The two aircraft have commonalities, but the larger aircraft is not as fast as the ATR 42. The ATR 72-500 has a maximum range with full passengers of 890 nautical miles, according to the manufacturer, which is beyond the range that is likely to be acceptable to most passengers. However, this range capacity enables the aircraft to make a return trip of 420 nautical miles without refuelling, which is often an operational advantage on the types of network on which it is deployed.
