Gol's $150m PDP financing for seven 737-800s
It was not easy. That phrase was probably uttered by most of the financiers being recognized for Airfinance Journal's 2009 Deal of the Year awards.
This especially rings true for Natixis Transport Finance, which solely financed the predelivery payment (PDP) of seven 737-800 aircraft for Brazilian carrier Gol in a deal worth $150 million.
Leonardo Pereira, one of Gol's vice-presidents, says the airline originally thought it would need more banks to finance the deal. Gol was even prepared to put the money in if it could not get financing – even if that meant it would not be the most efficient way of doing things.
