The International Air Transport Association has cut its losses forecast for 2010 to $2.8 billion compared to the $5.6 billion originally forecasted in December 2009.

Iata says the reduction is due to demand recovering at the end of 2009 and continuing into the first months of this year. Iata had previously raised its expected losses in December 2009 from $3.8 billion.

The association, which represents approximately 230 airlines, also lowered its estimated losses for 2009 to $9.4 billion from $11 billion.
