Feature: What is a 737-900ER worth?

Airfinance Journal asked appraisers to assess the value of a 2010-vintage 737-900ER powered by CFM56-7B27 engines.

The 737-900ER is the largest of the Boeing narrowbodies, with a short-to-medium range.When the manufacturer launched the programme in July 2005, Lion Air, in Indonesia, placed an order for 30 aircraft.

 

While the exterior dimensions of the 737-900ER are identical to the 737-900, the extended-range variant can carry 215 passengers – 26 more than the-900 – and fly about 500 nautical miles (nm) further.

 

Aerodynamic and structural design changes such as an additional pair of exit doors and a flat rear pressure bulkhead allow more room for the increased number of passengers, and auxiliary fuel tanks increase the range of the 737-900ER to 3,200nm (5,925 km).

 

When launched, Boeing said that the -900ER would be ideal to connect cities such as Seattle and Orlando, or San Francisco and Boston.
