Delhi Airport set to become global hub

If infrastructure changes are put in place and a hub carrier established, Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport could rival Dubai and Singapore.

Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport has the potential to become a global hub and compete with the likes of Dubai and Singapore, delegates were told today at the Fourth Annual India and South Asia Airfinance Conference.
“Delhi certainly has the ingredients to be a world hub – a large population, a growing population, an affluent population and growing road infrastructure,” said Ansgar Sickert of Fraport AG.
But Sickert went on to say that the city’s rise to global prominence is dependent on much-needed infrastructure improvements and the development of an Indian hub carrier.
