Fern sets up consultancy after early retirement

Veteran banker leaves Bayerische after 23 years.
After 23 years working in aircraft finance, Rudiger Fern will take early retirement from banking to set up a consultancy company.
Fern began his career in aviation when he joined Manufacturers Hanover Trust in 1986 as account manager for financial institutions, specializing in leasing and aircraft finance. He then worked as an investment banker at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt between 1991 and 1992, before moving to BayernLB.
Under his leadership the BayernLB aircraft finance team generated a portfolio of more than $3 billion before 2001, as the bank became a leading player in the German market.
BayernLB was lead bank for Air Canada, managing deals for more than 70 aircraft, including export credit financings for various tax structures and underwriting a $500 million commercial debt transaction. Other highlights include playing a major role in aircraft financings in the US...
