Aer Lingus has transformed itself significantly over the past few years and this is set to continue under new CEO Dermot Mannion. Andrew McGuinness reports.

At the start of 2005 Dermot Mannion was faced with a tough choice: he could stay at Emirates, where he was CFO and head of group services, or move back to Ireland, his home country, and run Aer Lingus.
"There is only one airline in the world that I would have left Emirates for and that's Aer Lingus," says Mannion. "I have come back because I think I can make a difference."
Mannion joined Emirates in 1987 and was part of the team responsible for growing the airline into one of the world's largest carriers. He is keen to repeat this with Aer Lingus.
"My history and background in Emirates is one of growth," he says. "So that's what we are going for."
