Dubai Inc launches aerospace division

The state of Dubai is investing $15 billion in aviation. Much of this will be spent on aircraft leasing and airports. Siqalane Taho finds out about the company that will lead this expansion.

It is easy to announce a new aviation business. Many press conferences are held to launch a new airline or aviation supply company, and many of these fail ever to carry passengers or even make a sale. Healthy scepticism is essential for anyone dealing in aviation.
But when the state of Dubai talks, everyone listens. Few places in the world have transformed themselves like Dubai. Few people outside of shipping or trading knew anything about Dubai 30 years ago. Now it gets more than four million tourists a year – and is expecting that to increase to 10 million by 2010.
