Airfinance Journal: What are your insights from this year's Farnborough Airshow?
John Leahy: What struck me was the enormous confidence and support that our customers and suppliers showed us. As you can imagine, it's been one hell of a year: a lot of changes both in products and management, production delays, etc. But despite all of that, it is gratifying that the world's leading airlines are reinforcing their commitments to Airbus and they are doing it with their chequebooks. The airlines ordered $21.5 billion-worth of airplanes – the 182 airplanes ordered at the show – but many of them are not going to be delivered for the next three, four, five years. So what you're looking at is long-term commitment and trust. There are many highlights to a show like this. The biggest one, of course, is probably the Singapore commitment, 48 aircraft, a reconfirmation of the A380 programme.They're standing out...
