  • Calyon has closed a Japanese tax lease for an A330-200 for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. The deal is the first Japanese structure that KLM has been involved in since the introduction of the new tax regime in April 2005. Calyon acted as the sole arranger and debt provider in the deal.

    "We chose this structure because it offered very competitive funding and it also gave us an opportunity to tap into the Japanese tax market under the new tax regime," says Hans-Eric Kuiperi, senior vice-president finance, at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

    Norton Rose in London advised the airline and Clyde & Co advised Calyon.
