A consortium comprising of AIG Financial Products Corp, Crédit Suisse and GE Infrastructure has bought London City Airport. The acquisition is subject to European Union merger clearance, which should be given in November. Northwest Airlines will from July 2007 fly the Hartford to Amsterdam service using 757-200 aircraft modified with winglets. The airline will operate the service in partnership with KLM, and it will be the only non-stop Hartford to Amsterdam service offered by any of the US airlines. General Electrics has made a big impression in China. The engine company has won the engine orders for four of the five airlines that will be operating 787 aircraft. It will be responsible for 42 aircraft in the country. The engines and related business is worth more than $1 billion to the company.
