Fact: 2006 was a great year for aviation finance, but the grand achievements of the past 12 months did not happen without a struggle. A number of external factors have ensured that the work of our industry remains challenging.

The environmental impact on aviation and the increasing price of fuel have spurred more creativity among those in aviation finance. Gone are the days when a deal simply involved debt and commercial loans. The editorial team at Airfinance Journal has the difficult task of deciding which airfinance deals have been the most interesting, particularly in light of so many ingenious financial structures.
