Six months is a long time to endure an extreme lack of sleep. I am not referring to expectant mothers or jetlagged travellers, but to the diligent bankers who worked on the Qantas deal... or non-deal as the case may be. Now that the deal is off, the what, when, how and why are revealed in this issue of Airfinance Journal.
What really hits home about Qantas is the fact that many other takeover consortiums, airlines and banks looked on in anticipation, begging the question: if Qantas doesn't work, what will? For six months the industry watched Airline Partners Australia move closer to victory but the consortium's bid was 4% shy of an extension.
