After its future seemed in doubt, administrators acting for Alitalia announced a number of expressions of interest in the group's operations. A proposal from a consortium of Italian investors is back on track after trade unions swung their weight behind it. A number of other expressions were received for other companies in the group, including the ground transportation and maintenance operations. Ryanair launched a legal challenge to the deal to save Alitalia. It has submitted a formal complaint to the European Commission against the "latest unlawful bailout of the failed Italian national carrier". Ryanair has previously launched complaints against similar rescue bids for flag carriers.
