International law firm Bird & Bird and London firm Lane & Partners have merged under the Bird & Bird brand. The merger combines two commercial aviation practices into one aviation commercial legal team in Europe. It joins Bird & Bird's experience in aircraft asset management and defence contracting with Lane & Partners' experience in civil aviation regulatory matters, aircraft insurance and leasing disputes and UK and European competition law.
Paul Briggs and Catherine Erkelens are joint heads of Bird & Bird's international aviation and aerospace group. In addition to London, the firm has a product liability practice in France, a regulatory practice in Belgium and commercial practice in Sweden and across other offices.
