US DOT Awards New Routes to China

The US Department of Transportation has awarded six airlines new routes to China. Delta Air Lines and United Airlines will begin daily passenger services in spring 2008. Delta will operate from Atlanta to Shanghai and United Airlines will start San Francisco to Guangzhou. Both Delta and United will use 777s on the routes. The remaining four carriers will begin services in 2009 if final approval is given.
