Aer Lingus likely to seek private investors

Aer Lingus is likely to seek funding from the private sector, according to Irish transport minister Martin Cullen. Cullen said that ?the least likely option is that there be a state investment? adding that the only other option is to seek equity funding ?out in the market?. Cullen added that he would try to find the airline a new CEO within two weeks. CEO Willie Walsh resigned earlier this week, along with two other senior executives. It is unclear whether Aer Lingus will seek a single strategic investor or plan an equity issue.
